Alexa will not delete all your Amazon Echo data. Here's what you can do best

Your Amazon Echo Speaker is not only a good listener; his assistant Alexa too keep track of your voice transcriptionseven after removing them. The text transcripts remain stored on Amazon's servers and the only way to completely delete your data is to contact Amazon. This is of particular concern to those who claim that Amazon stores children's data longer than necessary.

The company says the data is being used to improve Amazon Echo. This is not uncommon – Apple stores anonymized Siri data for up to two years to improve the product. The prerogative of Amazon is probably the same, using your data – and that of everyone else – to improve the way Echo understands you.

However, with the recent news that Alexa sent a private family chat to a random contact, you may be a little worried to see Amazon keep your orders recorded.

For the moment, Amazon will let you delete the application data, but you can not completely delete the written transcripts. Here's what you can do.

Option 1: Delete records through the application

To delete your records, go to the Amazon Echo App> Settings> Alexa Account> Alexa Privacy> View Voice History.

You will see a list of all the requests you have made since your echo configuration. You can choose which records you want to delete or press Delete all records of the day.

Option 2: Delete all via the browser

If you use a browser, there is a way to delete all the voice data in one shot. Go to www.amazon.com/myx, log in and click Your devices. Find your echo in the list, click Delete voice recordings.

You will see a warning message explaining why you want to keep these records. Click on Wipe off if you wish to continue.

To completely delete your voice recordings and transcripts, you must contact Amazon Customer Service at (888) 280-4331 to make an official request.

How to listen to my voice recordings?

In the Amazon Alexa app, go to Settings> Alexa Account> Alexa Privacy> Revision Voice History. Tap the arrow of the audio file you want to listen to, then tap the play icon.
