The featherweight title fight between defending champion Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega was withdrawn from UFC 260 on March 27.
The announcement was made during the UFC Vegas 22 broadcast on Saturday night.
Sadly, Volkanovski was taken off the map due to COVID-19 protocols, which meant the entire fight had to be dropped with plans to reschedule the match at a later date.
One of Volkanovski’s teammates and training partners Brad Riddell was also pulled from UFC Vegas 22 on Saturday due to the same COVID-19 protocols, although it is not known whether the two situations are related. .
The fight was meant to serve as Volkanovsky’s second title defense after beating Max Holloway to win the featherweight championship and then beating the Hawaiian a second time in an immediate rematch.
