The slow progression of free NES games for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers continues this month with three new titles, including the classic Donkey Kong Jr. As Nintendo notes in its latest newsletter, this brings to over 40 the total number of free NES games on Switch, all of which have enhanced features online.

We are still looking forward to being informed of the addition of more modern consoles to the selection, but until then, the proposed lineup is relatively solid for May. That said, there are few interesting NES games worth adding, and adding SNES or N64 titles would be a welcome change for many Switch owners.

Here is the full range of free NES games available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers on May 15th:

  • Donkey Kong Jr.: Based on the popular arcade game, Donkey Kong Jr. is the result of the huge success Donkey Kong Play as Donkey Kong's son and save your father who has been kidnapped and imprisoned in a cage by Mario. Use the jumping and climbing abilities to climb in the vineyard and chains, pick the essential fruits and keys and open the cage to free your father. Be sure to avoid pesky birds, unpleasant electric sparks and scary deceivers. Four different worlds filled with many climbing and jumping puzzles await you in this timeless classic.
  • AGAINST. Excitebike: Fans love it Excitebike game for his frantic races, his high stakes and his smooth jumps. With this game you can upgrade to the Famicom disc version of AGAINST. Excitebike – complete with two-player split screen. Create tracks from 20 classics Excitebike track coins, and go for a better time or take some friends. The race is even more exciting when the rivalries are real. You can also try the solo mode in AGAINST. Excitebike. It adds tracks, music and the ability to save your best score.
  • Clu Clu Land: The greedy sea urchins stole all of Clu Clu Land's gold bars and buried them in a series of labyrinths.
