It seems that all mentions of modules for the Hydrogen A to be launched this year have been removed from the RED website.
What does it mean? Well, that could mean two things, especially for titles, because RED canceled them. But it could also mean that RED is simply updating its website and everything is going as planned. Without confirmation from RED, there is no way to know for sure.
First noticed by a reddit the user, then confirmed using Wayback Machine, the RED website, previously listed scalable storage modules, the camera and a battery pack. We also wrote on one of the supposed modules of RED for the device, a kind of 3D camera.
We have contacted RED directly regarding the removal of the mentions of the module and will update this post when / if we became aware of it.
UpdateJim Jannard took advantage of his forums to announce the following.
Some have noticed that we removed the images from the 2D module of our website.
The reason is that we are radically changing the HYDROGEN program. As I have said, everything can and will change.
A series of obstacles, then new discoveries have given us the opportunity to significantly improve the entire program, not only for HYDROGEN, but also for RED.
The changes create new opportunities to better serve business customers of the image capture service, as well as casual consumers of the HYDROGEN program.
The RED team, led by Jarred Land, will now be fully responsible for the professional image capture program for HYDROGEN and the HYDROGEN team is fully committed to the new image capture system built into the device. Both are major advances compared to what was previously displayed.
We are excited to share the details as soon as we file the patents and lock the changes. We are all very happy with what is coming …
By the way, all HYDROGEN customers will be "out of date" when they join the new professional image capture program.
