All the details on Meghan Markle’s NYC outfits

From the “modern princess” to the electric dresser.

Last week, Meghan Markle traveled to New York with Prince Harry to speak on Global Citizen Live and meet with UN leaders, giving fans a glimpse of her post-royal style in the process.

Throughout the Sussexes’ three-day stay in the Big Apple, the Duchess avoided the British brands she once lived in, instead releasing a series of fall-ready clothing from American and Italian labels like The Row and Max Mara, respectively.

And while Markle still loves the monochrome look just as much, her must-have silhouettes have changed since she left royal life.

During her days in London, the Duchess of Sussex remained with midi skirts and dresses, belted coats and hats galore, according to palace protocol; now she’s literally wearing the pants, having packed three different outfits for NYC that incorporated pants.

Markle kicked off on Thursday in an all-navy ensemble consisting of an Emporio Armani coat over a matching turtleneck and pants – a look better suited to the boardroom than Buckingham Palace.

For a visit to a Harlem elementary school (and a soul food stop) on Friday, the 40-year-old style star wore a wine-colored Loro Piana coat ($ 5,840) and pants ($ 1,685) in a loose and avant-garde fit that was a far cry from the more traditional fitted styles she wore as a royal.

On Saturday, Markle toured the United Nations Headquarters in another chic, CEO-worthy look, this time a camel coat ($ 5,590), shirt ($ 695) and pants ($ 895) by Max Mara.

And for this afternoon’s charity concert in Central Park, the Duchess of Sussex showed up in a Valentino shift mini dress ($ 5,400); between the cropped hem and the sparkling embellishments, it was a playful upgrade to her palace wardrobe.

But while her closet may have changed since swapping the monarchy for Montecito, Markle still clings to some elements of royal style: Before and after taking the stage at Global Citizen Live, she was spotted wearing Dior’s Lady D-Lite bag ($ 4,900), a spin on a style loved by (and named after) his late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
