From potential cooperation to official comments on the DLC.

A sequel to Breath of the Wild was announced earlier this week at the end of Nintendo Direct's presentation for E3 2019 and, although we still do not know the title, there are several interesting pieces of information that interest us We have discovered this highly anticipated game.

To learn more about this presentation, check out our article on the Nintendo Direct E3 2019.

Zelda producer did not refuse cooperation, Zelda is playable

In an interview with IGN, Eiji Aonuma, producer of the Zelda series, was questioned about whether fans could potentially play the role of Zelda in this game, or even if cooperation would be a possibility. Aonuma did not deny either, but rather said: "It's a bit interesting that you raise this, because in Breath of the Wild, you often see Zelda and Link together too, so go straight to the thought of the cooperation is very interesting for me. "

Later, in an interview with Jason Schreier of Kotaku, Aonuma was asked a similar question about the game as Zelda. Aonuma said, "A lot of people have asked, so I would like to ask you why people think that." Schreier responded by saying that she was free at the end of Breath of the Wild, and that people wanted to play with her for a long time.

"I see," Aonuma said. "But I can not tell you."

The inspirations of the Zelda team

In this same interview with IGN, we asked which games the youngest members of the Zelda team were playing, especially what inspired them, and Aonuma replied:[Something] I've heard that many people were playing Red Dead Redemption 2. "

When asked what open worlds inspired the entire Zelda team, he replied, "When I was working on Breath of the Wild, the director [Hidemaro Fujibayashi] was playing Skyrim. "

Wild Breath 2 has no connection to the Majora Mask

When the sequel to Breath of the Wild was announced, many people made comparisons between it and Majora's Mask. These comparisons were made for several reasons: the trailer emits a decidedly dark tone, similar to Majora's Mask, a direct sequel as Majora's Mask was at Ocarina of Time, and it seems like the game runs on the same engine and has the same general artistic style as Breath of the Wild, just as Majora's Mask did with Ocarina.

However, Aonuma informed IGN that the Wild Breath suite was not related to Majora's mask, stating that "the new Breath of Nature or the aftermath of it, it will not necessarily be bound to Majora's mask nor inspired by it, what we showed you now is a little darker. "

A follow-up of the breath of nature

The trailer that officially announced the continuation of Breath of the Wild did not tell us much about the possibility of playing, but it gave a glimpse of many details of the story. First and foremost, at the end of the trailer, the text "The Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of Nature is in Development" appeared, suggesting that the essential of this game would run after Breath of Nature. This seems obvious, but the direct consequences of The Legend of Zelda are surprisingly rare: Zelda II, Majora's Mask and Phantom Hourglass rank among the few direct suites.

While Link, Zelda and Ganon have had several different incarnations and versions throughout Zelda's long timeline, the Link and Zelda links presented here are certainly the same duo as the one who played in Breath of the Wild. Link wears his blue tunic now emblematic champion, but with a leather armor and a cape. These armor pieces resemble those of the Hylian armor installed in Breath of the Wild. At least some time has passed since the end of the match, as shown by Zelda's shorter cut.

The director of Breath of Nature is back

In an interview with Game Informer, Aonuma confirmed that Hidemaro Fujibayashi, the director of Breath of the Wild, had taken over the direction of his sequel. Although other specific members of the team have not been identified, it can be assumed that it is largely from the same team that has been working on Breath of the Wild. Aonuma himself will come back as a producer.

Back to Hyrule and DLC

In this same interview with Game Informer, Aonuma explained that "one of the reasons we wanted to create a continuation was because I wanted to revisit Hyrule again and use this world again, while incorporating new gameplay and a new story. " The game will run at least partially in Hyrule, as opposed to a completely new venue, like Termina or Lorule.

In the revelation trailer, we saw a shot of Hyrule seen from the breath of nature (without towers or shrine of Sheikah) as Hyrule Castle began to rise into the sky . However, it is possible that Aonuma simply refers to the world of Breath of the Wild in general and not to the specific realm of Hyrule.

Aonuma also suggested that the Breath of the Wild sequel receive the downloadable content as the original, stating "I like very much the idea of having downloadable content or whatever follows the main game … People play the game longer and enjoy it much more deeply. In the future, we will certainly think about it. "

Breath of Wild Suite Release Date

We have not received a direct indication of when Breath of the Wild 2 will be released. Given that we have never seen gameplay and that Zelda's development often takes several years, it is possible that the game will not come out in 2020. After the E3 2019, the Nintendo of America Twitter The account posted an image of the upcoming games' release windows on Nintendo Switch in 2019 and 2020. In the 2020 section of the image, games whose release dates are confirmed, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons and No More Heroes 3, were included, but the Wild Suite's breath was not.

Of course, this does not definitively indicate that it will not be released next year, while another highly anticipated game on Nintendo, Metroid Prime 4, was not included either. Since neither party has been publicly open, it is logical that this section is not included either. However, it is a public recognition that Nintendo has not yet committed to a 2020 version.

Ganondorf, king of gerudo

This section delves further into the theory than the previous sections, as there is no direct confirmation of Nintendo here, but it appears that Ganondorf (Gerudo de Ganon) will be involved in this sequel in one way or another . In the trailer, Link and Zelda explore tunnels located under Hyrule Castle, filled with bright stones, and find a corpse of what is probably a Gerudo (as shown by the Gerudo symbol on his sheet). If this is the case, it probably means that it's an incarnation of Ganondorf, one of the male Gerudo born in the tribe every 100 years.

In Breath of the Wild, Urbudosa, champion of Gerudo, said: "It was written that Calamity Ganon had once adopted the form of a Gerudo", either by referring to Ganondorf's Ocarina of Time, to the same person found underground in the trailer for Breath of the Wild. It may be one and the same, because the body of this corpse seems to have a wound exactly where Link stabbed him with Master Sword at the end of Twilight Princess: it was the same Ocarina of Ganondorf Time that had been locked in the Twilight Realm. for countless years. Again, this is not confirmed and the corpse may not be completely related to Ganondorf.

Several theories of fans around the Internet about this trailer, but they are moving away more and more confirmed information. We will stop here for the moment. We do not know how long we'll have to wait to learn more about the Breath of the Wild sequel, but in the meantime we still have the first game to hold us back.

In our review of Breath of the Wild, we called the game a "masterpiece" by saying, "an open-design master class and a decisive game that reinvents a 30-year-old franchise. It presents a beautiful sandbox full of mystery, suspended dozens and dozens of enticing things in front of you that only need to be explored. "
