Nicalis has been working on a number of titles for Nintendo platforms over the years, starting with the Wii and going up to the switch. The company is certainly one of the largest independent publishers on Switch today, and they have worked with a number of developers to bring rewarding experiences to the platform. Unfortunately, it seems that many of those who have worked with Nicalis, both within the company and through partners, have experienced rather unpleasant circumstances.
Kotaku wrote a report on the internal workings of Nicalis, which was written by Tyrone Rodriguez, founder and president of the company. Under the guise of anonymity, a number of former employees accused Rodriguez of poor psychological treatment and ill-treatment. Rodriguez also claimed to have used racist terms and expressions on numerous occasions. These statements are backed up by Skype logs of conversations showing Rodriguez using extremely unpleasant language.
Nicalis' accusations and ghost ads were also reported during negotiations for publication. Apparently, a number of
the teams were looking to work with Nicalis to release their games on various platforms, but these agreements never succeeded, Nallis being silent for weeks or even months.
A spokesman for Nicalis offered an answer to all the allegations and said he would not make any other comments about it. You can see this statement below.
