Google is expected to release Android 12 this year, which means developer previews and beta versions will most likely be available for download soon. You might not have to wait that long to see what the next mobile has in store for you, however: XDA Developers released what may be our first look at Android 12. The post did, however, encounter a “suspected first draft” of a Google document summarizing the changes to the operating system, and it comes with some screenshots. , including one that shows an opaque notification panel with entries that have pronounced rounded corners.
You’ll also notice in the right-most screenshot above that the UI only shows four quick settings tiles instead of the usual six. There is a new privacy indicator at the top left of the interface indicating whether the phone’s camera and microphone are also in use. When you tap the indicator, it shows you which apps are using the camera and mic, and changing the privacy settings will let you turn them off completely.
While XDA Developers cannot verify the authenticity of the screenshots themselves, it indicates that the source document itself is genuine. Based on this document, Google will make the privacy flag a mandatory feature for all Android 12 devices. The tech giant would also launch “chat widgets” (see second screenshot on the left) with operating system and will also make it a mandatory feature.
