Allen West continues unbalanced anti-vaccine tirade amid COVID hospitalization

Right-wing fire mark Allen West followed up on the previous day’s news that he had contracted COVID-19 and been hospitalized with a Twitter rant against the vaccination on Sunday.

The former congressman, who is unvaccinated, wrote that he and his wife Angela received monoclonal antibody treatments in a Dallas emergency room on Saturday. “The results were immediate”, he claimed before noting that his wife, who is vaccinated, was allowed to return home during her hospital stay due to concerns about COVID-related pneumonia and low blood oxygen levels.

The far-right figure, who has increasingly embraced the rhetoric adjacent to QAnon and recently stepped down as president of the Texas GOP, praised the “for not imposing any harmful protocol on me” and for “having me made oatmeal for breakfast !!! ”

And then, despite the burden placed on hospital staff by people like West refusing to get vaccinated, he turned to the vaccine attack.

“I can attest that after this experience, I am even more dedicated to fighting vaccine mandates,” he tweeted. “Instead of putting money into the pockets of big drug companies and corrupt bureaucrats and politicians, we should be pushing for monoclonal antibody infusion therapy.” (Monoclonal antibody treatments, of course, are largely made by pharmaceutical giants like Regeneron and GlaxoSmithKline.)

West’s anti-vaccine rant included statements without facts about the shot and somehow also found a way to scare migrants: “Instead of hitting Americans, not illegal immigrants, with a dangerous shot that injects them with these advanced proteins… guess what ? I now have natural immunity and double the antibodies, and that’s the science. “

The Tea Party star also took a moment to brag about his bid for Texas governor, saying he would “vehemently crush anyone who forces vaccination mandates,” including the “progressive socialist morons who must be rescued from. themselves”.

His anti-vaccine nonsense aside, West has already pushed unproven and potentially dangerous COVID “treatments” popularized by anti-vaxxes, such as ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug, and hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug. No drugs have been proven to treat the coronavirus, despite West’s claims.
