The wife of Republican candidate for Texas governor Allen West was released on Saturday after being arrested on Friday night for impaired driving (DWI) with her young grandson in the car.

Where is tweeted posted an update late Saturday afternoon saying his wife, Angela, had been “released” and thanking her subscribers for the “many messages of support and prayers.”

West’s wife was pulled over by a Dallas officer assigned to the DWI Squad for a traffic violation before 8:45 p.m. Friday night, which led the officer to suspect that West was intoxicated and had conducted a field sobriety test. After the field test, West was taken into police custody and charged with “drunk driving with a child under 15,” the Dallas Police Department told Fox News.

West’s grandson Jackson was handed over to a family member after his grandmother’s arrest.

The arrest drew strong reprimands from West, the former Chairman of the Texas Republican Party, who called the arrest “insidious” in a video he posted to Twitter on Saturday morning.

In the video, West said he spoke to people who were with his wife at PF Chang’s earlier that night and claimed they told him she only drank “water and lemonade” . He also criticized the Dallas Police Department for not letting him see his wife or speaking to a supervisor about the arrest.

“What bothers me the most is that they [Dallas police] took my wife, arrested her, took her to jail and left my grandson with two Dallas cops, ”West said in the Twitter video. “Fortunately, they were able to get in touch with our youngest daughter, Austin, who was able to pick up Jackson. [West’s grandson] of two policemen by the side of the road… I support the thin blue line but it’s insidious. “
