METAIRIE, La. – The historic Christmas Day portrayal of New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is a gift that never stops giving.
Kamara’s record six NFL touchdowns came at the perfect time for fantasy football managers using him in their Championship week rosters. And many of those fantastic grateful managers, in turn, paid for it with donations in honor of Kamara to a charity he supports.
Son of a Saint, an organization that supports boys who have lost their fathers to death or incarceration, said it has so far received $ 21,000 from nearly 400 donors.
“We are especially grateful to Alvin for choosing Son of a Saint as his charity of choice,” said founder Bivian “Sonny” Lee III, son of Saints defensive back Bivian Lee. “As an organization, we have 10 years on the midnight strike, which makes generosity even more meaningful as we enter 2021.
“As we grow to 200 boys enrolled, generous donations like these allow us to have more impact and fulfill our mission. I want to thank Alvin Kamara and everyone who has donated so far.
Kamara totaled 56.2 points in the ESPN PPR leagues (points per reception), the fourth most players in a game in the past 20 seasons. He joked that he was well aware when fantasy managers are not happy with his performance, so he liked seeing that response.
“People, they’re strong in this fantastic football all year round. … I don’t even want to echo some of the messages they’ve sent and tweeted, stuff like that.
