Amanda Kloots marks one year since dropping her husband Nick Cordero into the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on March 30, 2020, when the Broadway actor started to feel ill with symptoms believed to be later diagnosed as COVID -19. “It was the last day I saw Nick as Nick,” the single mom wrote on her Instagram.

It was two days later, on April 1, 2020, that Cordero went on a ventilator “and I never spoke to him again,” Kloots continued. “To all of you who, like me, have dropped off at the hospital never to really ‘see’ them again, I think and pray for you today. This day is just tough, there’s no other way to tell.
Kloots immediately received a surge of love and support in the comments, in addition to posts from people who have been through something quite similar, which Kloots shared with his Instagram Stories.
“My healthy beautiful mom did not come home to COVID,” one person wrote. “My last words for her [were], Mom, I’m sitting right outside and I’ll pick you up whenever you’re done with this. You will be fine…”
“It was exactly us this week last year with my dad,” commented another. “365 days to the day, he went to the hospital without answering and never came back to us.”
Kloots shared these personal stories while writing “We are not alone” while also pleading for people to “keep doing your part”.
“We have gone a long way in a year with what we know about the treatment and prevention of this virus,” she concluded in her article. “Do your part, keep doing your part. For Nick and every COVID patient who hasn’t come home.”
