Samuel, who was in Europe last month for the world fistballing championships (a sport similar to volleyball), went to the PortAventura Spanish amusement park with his family last month.

During his visit, he went to Shambhala, one of the largest roller coasters in the park, where the superb catch took place.

He explained to Stuff.co.nz how the other driver dropped his phone at the start of the race and joked that he would try to catch it.

Samuel explained: "The trip started and I totally forgot about it because I was just at the moment because it was such a good trip.After the first fall, we got up and saw the phone drifting into my view and I reached out and managed to catch him. "

At the beginning of the sequence, Samuel was incredibly excited as he was preparing for the race to begin its descent.

As the roller coaster rolled through the curls, Samuel smiled ecstatically before suddenly appearing to look shocked.

Then he reached out and in a split second he grabbed a phone in his hand.

He managed to keep it for the rest of the ride and even shook someone's hand behind him.

Samuel, who shared the video on YouTube, said in the caption: "I caught an unknown phone in mid-flight on a roller coaster!"

He added: "I was in Spain at Port Aventura to do a shambhala ride and I saw the person a few rows away letting go of his iPhone X.

"In a nutshell, I understood that this roller coaster is moving more than 130 km … was once the largest and fastest mountain in Europe … recently battered."

The shot stunned the guests who saw the video at the park.
