More than a sale

Amazon has worked to make each Prime Day event more important than the previous one. The company has increased the amount of star power it uses this year to draw attention to what has become its biggest selling of the year. Amazon said last year that small and medium-sized businesses selling on the platform "far exceeded the billion-dollar turnover on this day of Prime Day" and that the company had sold more than 100 million products.

Although Amazon does not disclose specific details regarding its annual event, Internet Retailer estimated that in 2018, the sale had brought in between $ 4.01 and $ 4.38 billion worldwide, nearly 2% of retailer sales for the entire year.

This year's event promises to be even bigger.
