Spotify, Pandora and YouTube are currently the best games in town to listen to music online for free, via commercials.

Add Amazon possibly to the list.

Billboard reports that Amazon is planning to launch a similar service, which would only be available if you ask Alexa. The songs could be accessed via Echo connected speakers, which are manufactured by Amazon.

Amazon currently offers some 2 million free songs to Echo owners, who also pay $ 119 a year to subscribe to the company's premium service for expedited shipping and music, movies and online TV. Amazon Music Unlimited, a more complete music offering, is available for $ 9.99 a month or $ 7.99 a month for Prime members.

On Spotify, you can request listening to specific songs, but you must first listen to an announcement. Pandora works differently, offering radio stations based on artists you love. You can request specific songs, which may or may not be played. All come with spoken ads.

Spotify has nearly 100 million subscribers, including 56 million Apple Music No. 2 to 56 million. Apple offers free trials of its service, but no free level to listen to music with ads, beyond the genre radio stations.

Amazon said it has 100 million premium service subscribers.
