Saudi Arabia hacked Jeff Bezos' phone and took private information, according to an investigator hired by the boss of the Amazon.

Becker's Gavin, whom Bezos has hired to investigate how private messages about a personal relationship have been filtered into a tabloid, said in a post on Saturday at the Daily Beast that the piracy was linked to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist who had written for The Washington Post. Bezos owns The Post.

"Our investigators and several experts concluded with great confidence that the Saudis had access to Bezos' phone and obtained confidential information," Becker wrote. He stated that he had communicated his findings to the US authorities.

The Saudi Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The charges come about two months after Bezos accused American Media Inc., owner of The National Enquirer, of extortion. In a long Medium post, Bezos said that AMI had threatened to publish intimate photos of him and Lauren Sanchez, an actress, unless he says that the publisher was not "motivated by politics or influenced by political forces".

A month earlier, Bezos had revealed that he and MacKenzie Bezos, his wife for 25 years, would divorce. His announcement comes hours before The National Enquirer publishes a series of seductive texts between Bezos and Sanchez.

In his message, de Becker stated that it was not clear how much AMI was aware of the so-called Saudi hack.

In a statement, a spokesman for the US media described Becker's claims as "false and unfounded," adding that Lauren's brother, Michael Sanchez, was the "sole source" of information about the relationship. . "There has been no involvement of any other third party whatsoever."

CNET could not immediately reach Michael Sanchez for a comment.

AMI has already announced its intention to investigate the affirmations of Bezos in his Medium mail
