Amazon Game Studios has laid off an undetermined number of developers, although a source who spoke to Kotaku said that dozens of employees have been affected by the reduction.

In a statement made to the publication, Amazon called the layoffs "the result of regular business planning cycles" and was part of a reorganization effort to prioritize the development of New world, Crucibleand a non-advertised project.

Amazon notes that she is working with the relevant employees to find them other positions within the company. Kotaku's source said that the licensees had 60 days to find new positions at Amazon, after which they would receive a severance pay if no new job was found.

If you or someone you know has been affected by these layoffs, you may send an email to Gamasutra to share your story confidentially.

Amazon Games Studios was founded in 2012 and has seen a number of experienced developers join and leave the company in recent years. These titles mentioned previously, New world and Crucible, were two of the first three projects announced by the company. The third, Break away, was canceled last year and Kotaku sources say some unannounced extra games were canceled in parallel with today's layoffs.
