Amazon is working on an AirPods competitor based on Alexa

In addition to saying "Alexa" to activate the virtual assistant, the headsets would offer gestural commands to take calls and skip songs while listening to music. Alexa headsets would track much of the actual wireless competition with an included charging case. Bloomberg reports the hardware division of Amazon, Lab126, is working on the project. Last spring, Lab126 had reported the existence of a compatible domestic robot with Alexa: a device named Vesta.

Amazon has experienced several delays in the development of the earpieces, but the company has been looking for parts suppliers and manufacturing partners in recent months, according to the site. Bloomberg.

True wireless headphones have been around for a long time, but they are becoming more and more popular. And with reports stating that AirPods are the most popular option, it's easy to understand why Amazon would like to introduce something similar for its own virtual assistant. Amazon usually hosts a large hardware showcase in September. It is therefore logical that the Alexa motorized earphones make their debut at this time.

We have contacted Amazon for a comment on the subject, and we will update this post if we have any news.
