Amazon is the second largest employer in the United States with more than 800,000 employees and has an extensive transportation and logistics network with coverage throughout the United States. In a letter addressed directly to newly inaugurated President Joe Biden, Amazon is offering its resources to help Biden’s goal of vaccinating 100 million Americans in his first 100 days in office.

Additionally, we stand ready to leverage our operations, information technology, communications capabilities and expertise to aid your jurisdiction’s immunization efforts. Our scale allows us to have a significant impact immediately in the fight against COVID-19, and we are ready to help you in that effort.

Amazon has a licensed third-party health care provider that is ready to administer vaccines to its essential 800,000 employees once they become available. This includes employees of Amazon fulfillment centers, AWS data centers, and employees of Whole Foods Market.

Vaccinating all Amazon employees would help nearly 1% of Biden’s end goal of 100 million Americans, but the scale of the company’s operations and logistics could help the U.S. government’s efforts to physically secure the vaccines across the United States.

Currently, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are very limited. Globally, an estimated 54.3 million doses of the vaccine have already been administered, including 17.2 million in the United States. Over the past few days, an average of 912,497 injections have been administered. All these figures are as of January 20 according to Bloomberg. You can check the progress of the vaccine here.
