Amazon would have put more engineers to work on a smart home robot, a secret project called Vesta that waslast year. The robot is not yet ready for mass production.
The waist-high robot travels on wheels, uses computer-based vision cameras and could be a mobile version of Amazon's voice assistant, according to Amazon, according to Bloomberg, which cited anonymous sources aware of the project.
The e-commerce giant will also release an improved version of its, which is apparently being developed in the same laboratory in Sunnyvale, California, as Vesta, reported Bloomberg. The speaker may be wider than the current echo to accommodate additional components.
In an email response to the report, Amazon said it did not comment on rumors or speculation.
