Amazon stopped Amazon Spark, its discovery shopping feature

Amazon has closed its social networking feature on its site and its app called Amazon Spark, in which Prime customers can post photos of products purchased, according to the site. TechCrunch.

The company launched the service for premium members in 2017. Customers were asked to select a selection of interests in the feature section. They then showed you a stream of user messages related to these interests. The service seemed designed to replicate influencers using social networks like Instagram and Pinterest. TechCrunch noted that the site was "too transactional" compared to other social networks and had never really taken off. The feature's page is no longer on Amazon and its application, and its URL now redirects to "#FoundItOnAmazon" for some users or to "Your Recently Viewed Items and Featured Recommendations." Amazon did not explain why she had closed the site. .

Amazon does not seem to completely give up product discovery fueled by social flows. TechCrunch note what Amazon has learned from Spark and another feature called "Interesting Finds" (which is still operational) is being integrated with #FoundItOnAmazon, although this feature seems to be primarily focused on decorating interior.
