Amazon has reached a deal with Sony Pictures Television that will bring content from producer Norman Lear to Prime Video and the company’s free streaming service IMDb TV.
Some of Lear’s iconic titles include All in the family, Good times, Maude, One day at a time, 227, Diff’rent Strokes, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Sanford and sons.
“Norman Lear is a national treasure and his impact on television and popular culture is immeasurable,” said Jennifer Salke, director of Amazon Studios. “We are very honored to bring his classic TV series to Prime Video and IMDb TV so that new audiences and a new generation can laugh, enjoy and be inspired, as many of us have been over the years. “
Titles will be split between Prime Video and IMDb TV, without overlap. The launch of content on services will begin on July 15 when 227 and Different shots will begin streaming on Prime Video. The Jeffersons, Sanford & Sons, and Sanford will make their way to Prime Video later this year. All in family, good times, Maude, and One day at a time will be available on IMDb TV from July 15th.
“In 2018, our Act III productions came together with the Sony Pictures Television team and formed a partnership not only to produce new content, but to bring new awareness to my old Embassy library,” a said Lear. “That Sony has found a home for this library with Prime Video / IMDb TV where new generations can find it, is the best gift a man entering his 100th year can have.” Lear turns 99 on July 27.
Most of the series will be available to stream in their entirety.
