COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado – Amazon is targeting big with its promise of one-day deliveries for Prime customers and Colorado Springs will soon have a delivery station to speed up deposits in southern Colorado.

We were reviewing Amazon's ongoing project at the Colorado Springs Airport since last fall, but the company had not confirmed any details beyond simply hiring its temporary warehouse .

On Wednesday, Amazon said the station "will fuel last mile delivery capabilities" and create "hundreds of work opportunities for small businesses and independent contractors".

The delivery item is expected to open this year, but Amazon has not given a specific date.

Already in Colorado, Amazon has four distribution and sorting centers, 19 Whole Foods Market stores, a Prime Now hub, a Tech hub and an Amazon Air hub.
