Amazon’s new powered Echo Show 10 – announced last fall at its annual hardware event – finally has a February 25 release date, with pre-orders starting today for $ 249.99. The smart display was originally announced for a late 2020 release date.
Unlike Amazon’s other Echo Show smart displays, the Echo Show 10 has a motorized base that allows the screen to rotate to face you whenever you interact with it. It also uses its rotation capabilities (along with digital zoom and pan) to keep users focused on the image during video calls, even when on the move. Notably, Amazon supports Zoom in addition to its own Alexa group calling features, making it a potentially useful tool for video conferencing.
Likewise, the screen can be rotated when playing videos from services like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, allowing you to always be able to see your show. The screen on the new device can also be tilted up and down manually, although the 10-inch “HD” panel is still largely the same.
The Echo Show 10 does not use its camera setup for facial recognition, however. He can tell when someone is talking and face him, but he cannot determine specific people.
