Amazon Games’ new MMO closed beta New world has been marred with information that the game has blocked some gamers’ Nvidia RTX 3090 graphics cards. In a statement shared on Wednesday, Amazon said it saw “no indication of widespread problems with the 3090,” but will release a fix anyway.

Yesterday, hundreds of thousands of people played the New World Closed Beta, with millions of hours of play in total. We have received a few reports of gamers using high performance graphics cards experiencing hardware failure while playing New World.
New World makes standard DirectX calls provided by the Windows API. We haven’t seen any indication of widespread issues with the 3090, either in the beta or during our many months of alpha testing.
It’s safe to play the New World Closed Beta. To further reassure players, today we will be implementing a patch that limits frames per second on our menu screen. We are grateful for the support New World receives from players around the world, and we will continue to listen to their feedback throughout the beta and beyond.
However, the language of Amazon’s statement does not completely rule out that the game could cause problems.
