The former Dallas policewoman on trial for murder in her neighbor's bullet killing burst into tears when she testified on Friday morning for her own defense. Amber Guyger started crying and trembling as he approached his neighbor Botham Jean's door before shooting him.
Guyger said that she thought Jean's apartment was hers when she opened her door and shot him, mistaking him for a burglar. After a lawyer asked her to get off the bar to show how she had opened Jean's door, Guyger started to sob uncontrollably, prompting a judge to request a brief break .

The opening statements were issued Monday in the trial of Guyger. Prosecutors argued that Guyger had made a series of "unreasonable errors" and was more worried about how the incident would affect her than the man she killed.
