Amber Portwood says goodbye to her boyfriend, Dimitri.
In the Tuesday night season 9 premiere Teen mom ogAmber opened up about the struggles she faced with her Belgian beau as they were on separate continents, telling MTV producer Townsend that Dimitri was “calling me nonstop” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I need to be aware of this dynamic because I’ve been in relationship control before,” said Amber, 30.
Dimitri did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Tuesday.
A few minutes later, Amber received a WhatsApp video call from Dimitri, who called from her home country and asked her what she was doing.

“Nothing, I’m out there, I wonder why I’m getting a million messages,” she said.
Dimitri replied, “but it’s not my fault”, adding that he often called her “because I think of you. I love you, I miss you a lot”.
“There are times when I feel like it’s getting a little too much,” Amber told him, revealing her feelings about their constant communication. “It turns into a very possessive situation and a very unhealthy situation.”

“Being interviewed by someone at a time like this is just something I don’t need at all when I’m dating,” she added.
Amber later discussed her relationship with ex Gary Shirley, telling him that she broke up with Dimitri.
“We are neither boyfriend nor girlfriend,” she says. “It started to get to the point where he was calling and texting several, several, several times, all day.”
Despite the breakup, Amber said she was “good at the moment.”
Earlier in the episode, the MTV star virtually reunited with her castmates – Cheyenne Floyd, Catelynn Lowell, Mackenzie McKee and Maci Bookout – and told them that she and Dimitri had not “seen each other for seven months. “because of the pandemic.

Amber met Dimitri online after her split from Andrew Glennon, with whom she shares her 2.5-year-old son James. She is also the mother of her 12-year-old daughter Leah, whom she shares with Gary. She and Dimitri first met in person on an episode of Teenage mom OG, released in May 2020.
