AMD Ryzen AM5 desktop processors with Zen 4 architecture confirmed to have built-in RDNA 2 graphics

AMD’s next-generation Ryzen AM5 desktop processors and APUs based on the base Zen 4 architecture are confirmed to have RDNA 2 graphics. This information is confirmed in Gigabyte documents leaked by Chips and Cheese (via Videocardz) .

AMD Ryzen desktop processors will support Zen 4 processor, RDNA 2 GPU, and DDR5 memory

The leaked document lists feature compatibility for the upcoming AM5 desktop processors, namely the AMD 19h family. This processor family will be based on the base Zen 4 architecture, and according to details, the family will feature an integrated RDNA 2 graphics chip, as suggested in previous leaks.

The documents list three families of AMD AM5 desktop processors that are to be based on the base Zen 4 architecture. These families will include two types of chips, one with iGPU enabled and others with iGPU disabled. This is listed for some OPNs that do not support Hybrid GFX (Dedicated and Integrated).

AMD AM5 Platform Configurations for Next Generation Ryzen Desktop Processors and APUs:

Interestingly, all of these chips with a built-in GPU are referred to as APUs in the documents and we know AMD will be releasing Rembrandt APUs soon which will rock the architecture of the Zen 3 processor and the RDNA 2 GPU. AMD Raphael Zen 4 Desktop processors can also be considered APUs as they will carry the base Zen 4 architecture and an RDNA 2 GPU but will have limited models where iGPU is enabled compared to the Rembrandt APU line.

The AM5 client desktop platform also has an additional 4 PCIe Gen 4 lanes that can be used to attach an M.2 slot, a PCIe x4 slot, or merge them directly into a discrete USB4 controller, as the site reports. In some configurations, PCIe Gen 4 x4 lanes will power a USB4 hub that powers two Thunderbolt ports with DP 2.0 support.

As for when to expect those AM5 processors and APUs, the Raphael Zen 4 Ryzen chips will be the first to arrive on the all-new platform next year as it remains to be debated whether the Rembrandt APUs will come on the AM4 platform or directly on the AM5 platform although it makes more sense to have them on the new platform if they are supposed to use all of their features. We could also see DP2.0 on the laptop platform that would be showcased at CES 2022.
