Rosario returned to the Dominican Republic to be with her grandmother. The Indians placed him on the family’s emergency / bereavement list and recalled service man Ernie Clement of the AAA class Columbus to take his place on the list.

Aaron Civale made three starts in rehab before being activated and joining the rotation. With only 19 games to go, however, the Indians find themselves in a time crunch with Bieber.
“I don’t mean to say we’re against it,” Hale said. “We want to do the right thing. He felt good. Hopefully he will make another rehab start and it will go well and we have two weeks left and trying to get him into a big league game. That’s my wish – okay, there are other people involved – but it’s my wish that he plays in a big league game before the end of the season.

The Indians proposed Karinchak to Columbus on August 28 to work on his delivery. He spent the first two weeks pitching box sessions for the Clippers, but made his first appearance in a game Wednesday night in an 8-7 loss to Toledo.
Karinchak pitched a scoreless seventh inning, allowing a hit with two strikeouts. He threw 18 shots, 11 for catches.

# 4: Twins pitcher wins Bob Feller award
Right-handed twins Griffin Jax received the Bob Feller Act of Valor award. Jax, who started against the Indians on Wednesday, received the award Tuesday night at Target Field before the start of Game 2 of a doubles program.
The award is named after the Indian Hall of Fame, which enlisted in the Navy shortly after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He was in the Navy for four years, missing some of the best seasons of his career.
Jax is the first Air Force Academy graduate to play in the big leagues. The Twins drafted him in the third round in 2016. He played baseball for the Twins’ organization, while serving in the Air Force as part of its world-class athlete program.
On June 5, Jax was promoted to the big leagues by the Twins. On the same day, he was promoted to captain as a member of the Air Force reserve.
