“As part of this administration’s accessibility and inclusion efforts, starting today we will have an ASL, an American Sign Language interpreter for our daily press briefings,” Psaki said during the Monday press briefing.

“The President is committed to building a more inclusive, fairer and more accessible America for all Americans, including Americans with disabilities and their families.”

The first performer was identified only as Heather and appeared practically at the bottom of the screen as Psaki made his remarks.

The administration was praised for signing the pledge of allegiance along with its recitation at the inauguration last Wednesday.

The move set a different tone from the previous administration, which was continued in August by the National Association of the Deaf and Five Deaf Americans for failing to provide ASL interpreters during briefings on Covid- 19.
A federal judge ordered the Trump administration in September to provide ASL interpreters during briefings beginning October 1, either in person or by video.
