Ammon Bundy will not wear a mask in court, so judge has him arrested for failing to appear

According to Ada County Sheriff’s spokesman Patrick Orr, the Idaho Supreme Court has a mask warrant for anyone entering a courthouse, but when Bundy showed up on Monday morning for the first on the day of his jury trial, he refused to wear one and was refused entry.

Judge David Manweiler then issued a warrant for failure to appear, a misdemeanor.

Bundy was arrested and taken to Ada County Jail where he is being held on $ 10,000 bond, Orr said.

CNN reached out to Bundy for comment, but did not get an immediate response. We don’t know if he has a lawyer.

Bundy faces trespass and resisting arrest charges related to the August incident at Idaho Statehouse. He was arrested for refusing to leave the Capitol in Boise during a special session of the legislature.

“The soldiers were forced to physically remove Bundy from the Senate gallery,” police said at the time.

Bundy and others were on Capitol Hill calling for an end to the state of emergency.

He made national news in 2016 when he led an armed occupation of federal lands in Oregon. The resumption of the siege of a wildlife refuge lasted 41 days.

A man in the group, LaVoy Finicum, was shot and killed in an attempt to stop traffic a few weeks after the occupation began. Bundy was among those arrested.

He and others were indicted by a federal grand jury, but he was acquitted of firearms and conspiracy to obstruct federal workers charges.

Bundy is the son of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who in 2014 engaged in an armed confrontation with the Federal Bureau of Land Management over grazing rights for his cattle.
