In an Instagram post this weekend, comedian Amy Schumer said she recently had her uterus and appendix removed due to endometriosis.
“So it’s the morning after my operation for endometriosis, and my uterus has come out,” she said in candid video from the hospital. “The doctor found 30 endometriosis points which he removed. He removed my appendix because endometriosis had attacked him.
Endometriosis is a condition in which the tissue that lines the uterus grows in other parts of the body, causing discomfort or, in some cases, extreme pain and infertility. Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, welcomed their first child, Gene, in May 2018. Since then, Schumer has explained how difficult her pregnancy has been and that while she wanted another child, she was unsure if it was. was possible because of her. health conditions. In the comments on Schumer’s recent post, many expressed gratitude for sharing her experience, including Padma Lakshmi, who wrote: “Thank you very much for sharing your endo story.
