An American who had failed to stop for an inspection while entering the United States on the border between California and Mexico had been shot dead during a fight with police officers. boundaries, San Diego police said.

Berragan called the shooting "terrifying" and told NBC San Diego that she had jumped to the back of the car to accompany her children. her boyfriend, her baby and her 2 year old daughter were in the car when the gunshots rang out.
Customs and Border Protection have stated that the San Diego Police is the main agency responsible for investigations, but that it would also conduct a review of the incident.
