An Arizona man arrested during a fatal shootout brought on by a 10-year-old girl

The Arizona man accused of shooting a 10-year-old girl after an episode of road rage was charged with murder, officials said.

Sgt. At a press conference Friday, Vince Lewis and the Phoenix Police Department announced that Joshua Gonzalez, 20, had been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the murder of Summerbell Brown.

According to the police, he is a community informant who led the investigators to examine Gonzalez, whom Lewis described as having a very charged and violent criminal background.

On Wednesday at 5:45 pm The Phoenix police responded to the call of a shooting in a residence near 3800 W. Moreland St. They found the Brown family inside. a vehicle in the driveway of the house with two of the four passengers suffering from what appeared to be bullet wounds.

Lewis said the investigators had discovered that the Brown family had been involved in a road rage incident just before the shooting, during which their car allegedly cut a white pickup truck owned by Gonzalez not far from their home.

According to the police, Gonzalez reportedly followed the family home and reportedly faced Summerbell's father, Dharquintium Brown.

It was at this point that the police say that Gonzalez fired his gun, hitting the vehicle several times before taking off.

Summerbell was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital with her father who was also injured.

She was pronounced dead soon after.

Brown was treated for his injuries and released later. Police say that he should survive.

Lewis said the tricks of a composite sketch and an image of Gonzalez's truck eventually led to his arrest.

"Police investigators identified the truck as the same vehicle used in the crime, even after some changes were actively made to change the appearance of the vehicle."

Lewis said the wheels and tires had been changed. The police obtained a search warrant and found the gun used in the gunfire in Gonzalez's garage.

In addition to the charge of first degree murder, Gonzalez was charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
