An Arizona man died Sunday after being attacked at his home by a swarm of bees, officials said.
The incident occurred just before 6:30 pm When authorities received a report stating that a man was stung by several bees at his home in Yuma, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office wrote in a publication on Facebook.
The man, identified as 51-year-old Epigmenio Gonzalez, was trying to pull a hive out of a couch in his yard when the insects "became agitated" and began to sting him.
"The victim then ran to his yard where there were deputies and the rural metro covered with bees," the sheriff's office said.

Officials had to spray the Gonzalez with water to disperse the bees and allow the first responders to kill them.
Gonzalez was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A woman at home also suffered multiple bites and had to be transported to the hospital. His condition has not yet been published by the authorities.

The sheriff's office said that beyond the man and the woman, several deputies and staff from the rural subway were also stung by bees. According to police, however, none of them required medical attention.
