An Indianapolis officer shot down after a call to theft at the display

INDIANAPOLIS – An Indianapolis police officer was shot after responding to a call about a thief on display.

Cpt. Jerry Leary said that the shooting took place Sunday night when an officer had spotted a suspect and that a battle had begun. An officer was shot and the suspect ran away.

The suspect was apprehended later.

The agent was treated on the scene and was alert and aware. The officer was not identified until his family was notified.
