An Oregon man and his dog were found alive after five days trapped in his car amid a heavy snowfall, police said.
Jeremy Taylor, 36, of Sunriver, in Oregon, and his dog Ally were found Friday during a snowmobile ride on Highway 40 of the Forest Service, announced Saturday the County Sheriff's Office Deschutes in a statement.
Authorities used a Snowcat vehicle to reach Taylor and Ally, who were in good shape but were hungry, the police said. Taylor had eaten packets of taco sauce during the test.
Taylor's vehicle is stuck Sunday night, February 24th. He then woke up the next day to find even more snow and could not get his Toyota 4Runner out, the police said.
The Bulletin, a newspaper covering central Oregon, announced that the region had experienced historic snowfall on February 25, sometimes reaching 20 inches in some areas, the largest snowstorm in February over 118 years in this region of the state.
Taylor said that he had tried to leave his car on February 25, but that the deep snow made it too difficult, the police said.
While waiting in his car, Taylor stayed warm by periodically starting the vehicle, the police said.
Taylor and Ally have since been reunited with their friends and family.
