A painting of a Parisian street scene by Vincent Van Gogh was shown in public for the first time. British auction house Sotheby announced on Wednesday that the 1887 painting would be shown for the first time in Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Paris.

Van Gogh’s painting is expected to be auctioned in March and is expected to sell for up to $ 7 million. The auction company said the painting was previously private property and had never been seen in person.

“The painting is a real rediscovery, which means that although it has been published in complete catalogs, it has never reappeared on the market since the day it was acquired by the family who own it”, said said Sotheby auctioneer Claudia Mercier. “So this painting has been in private hands for over a century.”

Some of Van Gogh’s paintings still remain private property, which made this exhibition a historic event.
