Shortly after “The View” co-hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin abruptly left the live show on Friday due to positive COVID-19 tests, Navarro confirmed that his test result was “a fake. alarm”.
On Saturday, the political expert and frequent guest host of “The View” confirmed via Instagram that her initial coronavirus test was a false positive, this after performing three subsequent polymerase chain reaction tests while briefly self-quarantining to “exercise caution”.
“Obviously what happened yesterday was a false positive – a very public, very inappropriate, very melodramatic false positive,” Navarro said in a video.
“Thank you to all of you who have registered. … I didn’t have my fucking margarita last night, but I’m going to have one tonight. I wish you all a good day.
Navarro also had a strong message for his “enemies” in the wake of the health crisis, initially seen as revolutionary cases despite the fact that both panelists were fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
It is not known whether lawyer Hostin, who has not recently informed the public of her condition, has also received inaccurate test results.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who wrote to express your concern for Sunny and for me… you have no idea what this means to me,” Navarro said.
“For enemies, I do not give af—. Keep on hating. It doesn’t make a crack in my armor. I am so happy to be vaccinated and to know the protection it gives me. So please get vaccinated.
During Friday’s episode of the ABC TV show, Navarro and Hostin were asked, on air, to leave the table immediately before the panelists were ready to interview Vice President Kamala Harris in the studio.
“What happened is that Sunny and Ana both apparently tested positive for COVID,” co-host Joy Behar told the audience.
“No matter how hard we try, these things happen. … They will be okay, I’m sure, because they are both vaccinated until the end … The vice-president is preparing for her arrival, isn’t she? They cleaned the table, they [washed] hands. Everyone clean up a bit, and she’ll be here in a second.
However, after an impromptu question-and-answer session between the other hosts and the studio audience, Harris virtually joined Behar and Hostin, from another adjoining room, to avoid any potential risk of infection.
“Thanks to the VP and her team for being such pros and rolling with the punches,” Navarro said on Saturday.
“Thanks to the team at ‘The View’ – especially Joy and Sara [Haines] – to make the show last.
“The View” returns Monday on ABC.
