Anderson Cooper says his mother Gloria Vanderbilt wanted to carry her child

Anderson Cooperthe late mother Gloria vanderbilt was accommodating in a way most moms might not be.

On Thursday, September 23, Anderson was the guest of The late show, where he shared an untold story about his fashion designer mom with the host Stephane Colbert. Gloria, a member of the wealthy Vanderbilt family that gave Tennessee Vanderbilt University the name, died in 2019 at the age of 95.

Anderson, who prefaced her story by sharing that her mother was “a little bit crazy,” went on to explain that 10 years before her death, Gloria, then 85, had seriously tried to convince her son to let her wear a child for him. The CNN presenter, who was not yet a parent at the time, ended up welcoming his first child, his son Wyatt, with a surrogate mother in April 2020.

According to Anderson, her mother had seen a gynecologist at the time, who informed her that she could still bear a child. When Anderson was worried it meant she wanted to have another child, Gloria assured her that was not the case.
