Ben Chilwell and Jack Grealish scored their first goals for England as Gareth Southgate’s side defeated Andorra 5-0 in their World Cup qualifier at the Estadi Nacional on Saturday.

Chilwell, Bukayo Saka, Tammy Abraham, James Ward-Prowse and Grealish were all on track as England kept their clean sheet to stay ahead of Group I.

“The app was great throughout the game. Could we get in between the lines? Those diagonal runs were a real threat,” Southgate said after the game.

“There were some good times. Really happy for Chilly, the first goal from Jack, Tammy, Prowsey, Bukayo … These are all players who haven’t scored as often for England so it’s a special moment for all. “

Chelsea’s Chilwell was forced to wait a long time for his goal to be confirmed but VAR decided that Jadon Sancho was on their side in preparation for England’s opener in the 17th minute.

England’s second game was a sight fans hope to see in the years to come as youngsters Phil Foden and Saka teamed up for 40 minutes.

As England passed the ball back and forth in search of a gap, Foden broke the rhythm and sent Saka to the right. He touched before hitting a scorching shot into the Andorran net.

Just before the hour mark, Sancho sent a ball low into the box which Abraham slid into the net past Josep Gomes to add England’s third.

England received a penalty after Grealish was shot down in the 79th minute by Jesus Rubio. Ward-Prowse’s initial shot was saved but he recovered the rebound and made sure to convert on his second attempt.

However, the Southgate side were not finished, after being found by a long throw from Sam Johnstone, Grealish showed excellent individual skill to get around the Andorran defense and score in the 86th minute.

The match was also historic as it marked the first time that an England game had been overseen by an all-female referee squad with Kateryna Monzul at the helm.
