Andrew Cuomo’s story with women: wives, girlfriends, accusers

The love life of Governor Andrew Cuomo has been difficult, and at times cringe-worthy, for years – long before a second former aide accused him of sexual harassment at work on February 27.

In short, the hearts of some passed out liberals – who called themselves ‘Cuomosexuals’ at the height of the governor’s daily COVID-19 briefings last year – Cuomo, 63, made no secret that he was in the lookout after a very public breakup in 2019.

One of these cuomosexuals was comedian Chelsea Handler.

But when the Los Angeles-based comic asked her to come out online, the government ghosted her, she joked last October, a year after his split from 14-year-old girlfriend and celebrity chef Sandra Lee.

“I’m a huge Chelsea fan and she’s awesome and we’re having fun, but on my love life, you know, I’m only dating residents of the state right now,” Cuomo said during an appearance in October on “The View”, probably referring to the still raging COVID-19 crisis.

“On a human level, on a social level,” he joked to the host of “The Daily Show” Trevor Noah, also in October, “nobody wants to dine with me”.

Cuomo was married to Kerry Kennedy, the seventh child of Robert F. Kennedy, from 1990 to 2005.

They share daughters Cara Ethel Kennedy-Cuomo, Mariah Matilda Kennedy-Cuomo and Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo.

Why the split between the two has never been clear.

However, an excerpt from “The Contender,” a biography of Cuomo that was published in Vanity Fair, says that the tension in their relationship arose early on, and Kennedy even insisted the couple seek marriage counseling – but Cuomo was too wrapped up in work.

That same year, her divorce was finalized, the governor began a relationship with Food Network host Lee, and the couple moved in together in 2011.

However, the couple’s 14-year-old relationship officially ended in September 2019 and Cuomo has since publicly hinted on several occasions that he is seeking love.

“Do you think you are an attractive person now because you are single and ready to mingle?” Chris, the governor’s CNN host brother, teased him on his show “Cuomo Prime Time”

“No,” the governor growled at WAMC radio host Alan Chartock, who asked him on the air last summer if he was dating anyone. “What happened to the women you recommend?” he scolded Chartock.
