Android 10 detailed emoji changes, including neutral styles and cute animals

Major versions of Android may not bring the same radical changes as those of a few years ago, but the new emoji still deserve to be excited (unless you do not hate the fun). Emojipedia has released its traditional emoji changelog for the latest version of Android and, as usual, new emoji and updated styles are blending.

The updated version of Android 10 emoji was introduced with Beta 3; therefore, most of this information is not strictly new, but the analysis of Emojipedia is much more detailed than Google's own ad. There are a total of 236 new emoji, including 230 Emoji Standard 12.0 and six Emoji 1.0 flags. Google has also updated nearly 800 existing icons, and about 300 of these changes are a non-sexist overhaul.

Most emoji describing people now use a non-sexist default design, although you can still use the man / woman designs by holding down the emoji button (this may vary depending on the keyboard). Before that, emoji used the male or female variants by default, the behavior being inconsistent. For example, the Officer Police officer icon was represented by a man, while ? Nobody was having a hair cut. Of course, Google could have saved a lot of work here by keeping the pre-Oreo "blob" emoji, which were already gender neutral.

The other themes for the entire Android 10 emoji are accessibility, more options for people holding hands and more colorful shapes. There are icons representing hearing aids, people in wheelchairs, sign language, mechanical arms, etc. Google has also added all possible combinations of people holding hands. As for shapes, 14 new hearts, circles and squares are available in a variety of colors. I have never seen anyone use circle and square emoji, but someone must be happy for these additions.

My favorite additions are still animals, and I'm happy to announce that we finally have a lazy emoji! Other new animals include an organtuan, an otter, a skunk, a pink flamingo, an oyster and some versions of guide dogs. If you like emoticons, there is now garlic, onions, waffles, falafel, butter, a "can of drink" (which looks like a box of juice), mate (drink south American-style) and an ice cube.

If you are interested in all the changes of Android 10, you must absolutely read the full article of the Emojipedia blog by clicking on the link below. We are now waiting for Samsung and LG to mess up all these new and pretty emoticons in their Android 10 updates.
