- Android apps crash randomly for some users.
- Google has recognized the problem and is working on a fix.
- The problem seems to be due to a bad update of the Android WebView system.
Android users have experienced random app crashes over the past few hours. Apps like Gmail, Google, Yahoo Mail and others constantly shut down and behave erratically. However, Google is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.
In a statement to multiple publications, a Google spokesperson said, “We are aware of an issue with WebView causing some apps to crash on Android. We are currently working on full scope validation and a fix is in the works. “
The bug appears to impact all Android apps that use the WebView system component. Google apparently released a bad update for WebView, causing Android apps to crash.
Some users have found Whether removing the latest WebView update or uninstalling WebView completely resolves the problem. Samsung’s official U.S. Support Twitter account also recommends removing the update.
Hi! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please remove the Webview update and then restart the phone. Here are the steps: Go to Settings> Apps> tap the three dots in the top right corner> Show system apps> find Android System WebView> select Uninstall updates. ^ Nina

If removing the update does not work for you, try uninstalling WebView. To do this, head to the Google Play Store> My apps and games> Installed. Android System WebView should appear in this list of installed applications. Tap on it and tap uninstall. You should then restart your Android device for the best results.
Remember to reinstall the latest version of WebView after Google fixes the problem. It is an important component that allows applications to display web pages.
In the meantime, if you are trying to access Gmail, you need to use the desktop interface for now. The company also
acknowledged the issue with Gmail on Android on the Google Workspace status page.
