The Android Pie update for the Razer Phone 2 is imminent. Unlocked Razer Phone 2 units will receive the update on February 27th. In the announcement, I mentioned that the update did not offer many new features. At least that's what we thought, because on the surface, Android 9 on the Razer Phone 2 is identical to Android Oreo, with the exception of features specific to Pie such as navigation gestures and a refined user interface.

Our editor, Mishaal Rahman, learned that Razer silently added the 4K60fps video recording to the Razer Phone 2. Surprisingly, the update's press release did not mention anything about this addition. It is very easy to activate the new mode. All you have to do is open the camera, switch to video recording and above the shooter button, press the second icon to change the resolution, then the fifth icon to change the number of 39 frames per second. In the previous version of Android, the Razer Phone 2 could only capture a 2160p (4K) video at 30 frames per second. The time limit for recording 4k60fps is currently unknown, but we are working to identify it. Why did Razer decide not to make public the availability of this much-awaited feature? Anyway, we are pleased that this perfectly capable device can now use more of its potential.
