Angels demand Dodgers waivers from Chad Wallach

The angels claimed the catcher Chad Valach off the Dodgers waivers and optioned him to Triple-A, by the team. In a corresponding movement, Anthony Bemboom has been designated for assignment.

Wallach never appeared with the Dodgers in the Majors after being called on waivers from the Marlins. The Dodgers had hoped Wallach could serve as backstop insurance for Will smith and Austin barnes after the departure deadline of Keibert Ruiz. Yet he was just one more man for the Dodgers, who still have Tim federowicz in the organization as the alleged third recipient.

As for Wallach, he is heading towards the Angels, where he will place himself behind Kurt Suzuki and Max Stassi in the depth table. Most of Wallach’s playing time in the Major League has come from the Marlins over the past four seasons, despite making his debut for the Reds in 2017. In total, he has a .207 / .271 line. /.303 out of 231 home plate appearances.

As for Bemboom, the 31-year-old is heading to the waiver thread. While his success in the greats has been fleeting – offensively – he’s having a great year at Triple-A this season, cutting 0.255 / .364 / .482 in 165 trips to plate.
