WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump on Thursday renewed baseless claims that “massive fraud” and rogue officials in battlefield states led to his electoral defeat, and said he would surrender in Georgia to rally supporters ahead of two Senate second-round elections.
“There’s still a lot to do,” Trump said on Thanksgiving evening, despite President-elect Joe Biden winning the election. “This election was a fraud. It was a rigged election.
Trump spoke to reporters at the White House after speaking with US military leaders abroad.
After his conversation, Trump answered questions for the first time since polling day and angrily denounced officials in Georgia and Pennsylvania, two key states that helped give Biden victory, as “enemies of the United States.” ‘State’ and claimed they were guilty of electoral fraud.
State officials and international observers have repeatedly stated that there is no evidence of mass fraud and that Trump’s campaign has repeatedly failed in court.
Trump has said he will stage a rally with thousands of supporters in Georgia to support two Republican candidates – Sen. David Perdue and Sen. Kelly Loeffler – whose Jan.5 runoff round will determine which party controls the Senate.
Trump initially said the rally would take place on Saturday. The White House later clarified that he was talking about December 5.
