New Delhi, March 18 (PTI): Reliance Communications (RCom) has paid Rs 458.77 million in subscriptions to Swedish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson, according to sources, against the clock to meet the deadline set by the Supreme Court.
If the contributions had not been increased, the President of CRom, Anil Ambani, would have been sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
Finding that there had been a "voluntary default", the Supreme Court ruled last month Ambani guilty of contempt of court and ordered the heavy company to pay off its debts to Ericsson within four weeks or three months in prison.
A well-informed source said the commander paid 458.7 million crores to Ericsson in accordance with the SC Directive, but did not disclose the details. However, Ericsson could not be reached for comments.
