Animal Crossing For Switch brings positive changes to quality of life

Nintendo finally gave us our first Animal Crossing preview for Switch, now officially named Animal Crossing: New Horizons, during its E3 2019 Direct. We learned a few more details at a later demonstration of Treehouse, and since then more information about the game has appeared, including quality of life improvements expected in the series.

Unlike previous Animal Crossing games, in which players moved into a pre-existing village, New Horizons will ship you to a deserted island, where you can build your village from scratch. You will not be alone, however; In an interview with IGN, director Aya Kyogoku revealed that you arrive on the island alongside two other random animals who also chose to embark on the getaway package on the island. However, before the other villagers do not settle, they will ask if the location they chose is correct. If you do not like it, you can choose a different location.

You will also have a lot more freedom when customizing the appearance of your character this time around. In previous games, your character's face was determined by the answers you gave before settling in your village and the type of hairstyle you could have been locked by sex (although you may eventually unlock the hairstyles from opposite kind in New Leaf). As Kyogoku revealed to Polygon, you will be able to freely choose the facial features and hairstyle of your character, regardless of gender, and you will be able to switch between these options at any time of the game. For the first time in the main series, you can also select the skin color of your character.

These are not the only big changes brought by New Horizons. During the aforementioned Treehouse demo, we learned that the game will feature a couch in cooperation. At any time, you can pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend to enable him to take control of another character living in the village. Nintendo also said the game would support four players locally and up to eight players online.

Animal Crossing: Launch of New Horizons for Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020. Pre-orders for the game are now open. You can read more in our Animal Crossing Pre-Order Guide: New Horizons.
