Turkey Day is finally here in Animal Crossing: New Horizons after the Winter Update recently added new events for November and December. Players have a lot of cooking and a bit of prep work to do by participating in the event to acquire a lot of limited time items as rewards.

Today is November 26th and Franklin, the special turkey character, has arrived on New Horizons Island for the first time, kicking off a whole new event. He is here to celebrate Turkey Day and have a big party in honor of Thanksgiving. Players of previous Animal Crossing games may be more familiar with this event than the Harvest Festival.
Turkey Day is now live for players in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, and runs from 9 a.m. to midnight. The event lasts for a single day, but the best part about it is that there are other ways to get the limited-time items even after Turkey Day ends.
Franklin moved into the Resident Services front yard from 9 a.m. on November 26. He will prepare four different dishes for the residents of the island. It is the player who will help him by delivering the necessary ingredients to him from all over the islands.
To start the event, simply approach Franklin. He will ask you to help him locate the specific ingredients needed for each dish. After collecting them and handing them to Franklin, he can start cooking the dish. This will reward you with a Turkey Day item from the new Limited Time Furniture Set. The main goal is to repeat this process for all four courses, unlocking new rewards along the way.
To make things more interesting, Franklin will ask for a secret ingredient after completing each dish to add an extra spark to it. Providing him with the correct ingredient unlocks even more Turkey Day items. Additionally, the villagers will help you uncover the secret ingredients during the event.

Villagers help provide ingredients for Turkey’s feast
The ingredients Franklin needs come from the islands, including pumpkins and several types of deep-sea fish and creatures. Franklin will tell you all the ingredients he needs to cook a particular dish, except the secret ingredient.
It is important to note that some ingredients will be more difficult to find than others. If you provide the villagers with a suitable ingredient for their own cooking, they will trade one of the ingredients for Franklin’s dishes with you. Plus, they’ll give some clues about the secret ingredient of a particular dish.
Therefore, visiting and talking with the villagers inside their houses is a good alternative to find the rare ingredients. Typically, villagers will request different types of fish, which can vary for players in both hemispheres.
Turkey Specials at Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The four dishes Franklin will need to cook throughout the day are:
- Clam chowder.
- Pumpkin pie.
- Gratin.
- Meunière of fish.
Each of these dishes has its own set of ingredients. Once you’ve gathered the right ingredients for the current dish, take them to Franklin for baking. He will then reward you with an exclusive Turkey Day item.
Once the dish is fully prepared, Franklin will then ask for a secret ingredient to make it shine. Handing him the correct ingredient will earn you a bonus item. Repeat this process for all four courses to collect a bunch of limited-time Turkey Day items.

Regular and Secret Ingredients Required for Turkey’s Daily Specials in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Now some dishes use random ingredients as well as those based on the player’s hemisphere. Here are all the ingredients needed for the four dishes.
To cook the clam chowder, you have to give Franklin three Manila clams. The secret ingredient to sublimate this dish is a shell.
You will need an orange pumpkin and either a random selection green, Yellow, or white pumpkin for the pumpkin pie. The secret ingredient is two more pumpkins that differ from the first two pumpkins submitted.
The next dish is a Gratin. Northern hemisphere players need a mold and either a Oyster or one round, dish, or skinny mushroom, selected at random. Meanwhile, players in the southern hemisphere will need a squid and one sea urchin. The secret ingredient to making this dish better in both hemispheres is a Dungeness crab.
Finally, you will need a sea bass and either a touch, a olive plaice, or one snapper cook the meunière fish in the northern hemisphere. On the other hand, cooking the dish will require sea bass and either a olive plaice or one snapper in the southern hemisphere. A barred jaw is the secret ingredient to improve this dish in both hemispheres.
It is important to note that you must give the secret ingredient to Franklin when he asks for it after the dish has been cooked. Otherwise, you risk putting the wrong ingredients back in the beginning.
Rewards for completing Turkey’s Daily Specials in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
You will receive various Turkey Day furniture items, including a bonus item, for helping Franklin cook the dishes and correctly hand in the secret ingredients.
There are 12 different rewards available during the event, some of which can be crafted. Here are all the DIY items and materials needed to make them:
- Turkey day table setting – 4 clay, 2 iron nuggets
- Turkey Day Wheat Decor – 10 tufts of weeds
- Turkey Day Casserole – 5 iron nuggets, 1 clay
- Turkey day table – 10 hardwoods, 5 softwoods
- Turkey day chair – 5 woods, 2 hardwoods, 2 softwoods
- Turkey Day Decorations – 2 conifers, 5 tufts of weeds, 2 clays
- Home of Turkey – 1 campfire, 30 stones, 10 clay
- Turkey Day Garden Stand – 8 stones, 3 clays
Meanwhile, the following are non-craft items and don’t have DIY recipes:
- Turkey Day Carpet
- Turkey party wall
- Flooring Turkey Day
- Cornucopia
These are exclusive items that you can only get from Franklin during the event. While some items are assigned in a specific order, others are assigned randomly. Franklin will reward you with the four exclusive items in the order mentioned above for helping him cook all four recipes.
Also, if you correctly hand in the secret ingredients for each dish, you will earn a bonus item randomly selected from other Turkey furniture. On top of that, if you complete all four dishes and get the correct four secret ingredients, Franklin will also be gifting a Cozy Turkey Day DIY Recipe Pack.
This pack includes eight recipes for Turkey’s Daily Items to craft and customize. It will transfer directly to your NookPhone, allowing you to craft them at a later date. However, this pack excludes all four items, which can only be obtained through the event itself by helping Franklin cook all four dishes.
You can get the DIY Cozy Turkey Day pack without participating and customization options
Players can also learn DIY recipes to make without taking part in the event. The Cozy Turkey Day DIY Pack obtained by completing the event will also be available for purchase from Nook’s Cranny for 19,800 bells the day after the event. Additionally, Turkey’s DIY Daily Items will also be on sale on Nook’s Cranny’s Seasonal Slot for the remainder of the month.
Players can further customize the majority of Turkey Day furnishings available during the event in New Horizons. Just like other furniture, you need to head to a workbench with customization kits.
The default coloring of the prizes won at the event looks like fall in the northern hemisphere. Therefore, players in the Southern Hemisphere can customize their items in light green. It’s perfect for decorating in the spring there.
